Fruit bearer and ornamental tree. Edible fruit. Medicinal. Good timber. Rootstock. The apple can be eaten raw, cooked, accompanying different dishes as an ingredient, being a a source of vitamins. It is diuretic, cleans teeth and helps sleep. The wood is appreciated in carpentry and joinery.

Deciduous tree up to 10m tall. Produces the wild apple, a green-yellowish-reddish and sour apple. Green oval leaves, white flowers.

Prefers siliceous soils slightly humid.

Depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to April. To obtain a more regular and faster germination stratify in cold the seeds for 3 months before the sowing. It is possible to use a sowing substrate for potting or soil from the garden together with a sowing substrate if the sowing is made directly into the garden. The substrate must be wet but not soggy until the germination is completed.
