SEEDS OF COMMON PEAR - PYRUS COMMUNIS

Fruit production. Timber. Hardy but late frost sensitive.

Deciduous tree up to 20 m, with a pyramidal shape and cracked gray bark. White flowers presented in bouquets at the end of the twigs. The fruit is the well-known pear, with a smooth and green skin turning brown or yellow when ripe.

Depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to March. Stratify in cold the seeds for 3-4 months before the sowing. It is possible to use a sowing substrate for potting or soil from the garden together with a sowing substrate if the sowing is made directly into the garden. The substrate must be wet but not soggy until the germination is completed.
