This Fig tree is mainly cultivated for bonsai with its thick pot-bellied trunk similar to the Ginseng roots. In tropical areas and hot places it is a good shade tree.
Evergreen tree up to 30 m tall in natural conditions. Bright green and glossy leaves. Insignificant white flowers. The fruits are tiny brown-yellowish figs. Thick swollen roots standing above the ground.
Seaside tolerant. Susceptible to Thrip.
