Used in soups, they can be added to salads, scrambled eggs, omelettes. Herbal tea and juices are also made. The plant has diuretic, analgesic, anti-stress, demulcent properties. It is useful as well in case of protaste inflammation. It is used as herbal tea and plaster.
Annual plant of 60-100cm. The stems and leaves are dark-green, hairy and oval. It has beautiful blue-purple, star-shaped, clustered flowers.
Prefers sandy, slightly clay soils under a Mediterranean climate. The Common Borage is coming originally from Aleppo but now naturalized in most parts of Europe.
Direct sowing in Spring and Autumn.
