SEEDS OF TRUE SERVICE TREE - SORBUS DOMESTICA

Timber. Ornamental. Edible fruits used in the making of liquors. Relatively fast growing. Edible fruits used to make liquors and jams. The wood is very hard and it is used to make furniture.

Deciduous tree up to 12m tall with very dense crown and hermaphrodite white or cream flowers. Lanceolate leaves and brown-reddish apple or pear- like fruits.

Any soil even limestone soils. 

Depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to April. Stratify in cold the seeds for 3-4 months before the sowing. It is possible to use a sowing substrate for potting or soil from the garden together with a sowing substrate if the sowing is made directly into the garden. The substrate must be wet but not soggy until the germination is completed.
