Evergreen tree up to 30 m. Dark green leaves and spectacular red-orangey tulip-shaped flowers. Small rounded canopy.

Direct sowing. Lightly cover the seeds and maintain the humidity until germination is completed.
Grows on fertile soils with little limestone. Dry hardy. Requires sun to produce a good flowering.
Fast-growing. Before opening the flowers contains water, that wild birds come to drink.
