The Varnish Tree is a very decorative tree with attractive yellow flowers in summer. Used for gardens, parks and avenues. Urban tree. Shade tree.
Deciduous tree growing up to 9m with a rounded canopy and twisted and cracked trunk. Bright yellow flowers. Small leaves. Brown yellowish and very decorative capsules hanging for a long time on the tree as lanterns.
Prefers fertile, fresh and well drained soils.
To obtain a more regular and faster germination stratify in cold the seeds for 90-120 days before the sowing in spring. It is possible to use a sowing substrate for potting or soil from the garden together with a sowing substrate if the sowing is made directly into the garden. The substrate must be wet but not soggy until the germination is completed.
