This tree can reach 30m and the trunk can be 1m in diametre. It is a fast growing tree. The leaves are large and the reddish flowers appear in spring.

Planting & care
Direct sowing. Temperatures 15ºC night/22ºC day. Lightly cover the seeds and maintain the humidity until germination is completed.
It adapts to slight deep or very deep soils but the soil must be moist or well-deained.
Because of its deep and strong rooting it is now very much used in agro-forestry projects. For exemple it is used as a shading tree in coffee or cocoa plantations. Good timber, used in framework, joinery, cons and paper pulp. It transforms the fungus Amillaria mellea into mycchorize and both live in symbiosis.
