Ornamental tree for gardens, for reforestation and as a bonsaï. The acorns are mainly eaten by pigs. Man can eat its acorns fresh or toasted. The wood is of a great value too.
Evergreen tree growing up to 20m of a height with yellow typical flowers. Coriaceous, long and oval leaves. The fruit is an acorn with a downy, appressed scales cup.
It adapts to any types of soils, except the flooded, very sandy and saline soils.
