Deciduous shrub growing up to 2m with yellow flowers. Spiny-serrated coriaceous leaves. The acorn is held in a thorny cup.

It adapts very well to any types of soils.

Direct sowing in Autumn or Cold stratification for 2 months before sowing in Spring (no later than April).
