Sweet Gum
Formats
Beautiful pyramidal tree for parks and streets. It is found in parks, gardens and along avenues. The resin is widely used in medicine. The wood is used to make coating, furniture and moulding. The pulp is used to produce thin paper.
Deciduous tree growing up to 40m with yellow flowers in spring. Big yellow and reddish star-shaped leaves with a balsamic fragrance. The fruit is thorny and it is filled with numerous seeds.
It prefers humid, acid and well drained soils.
Soak the seeds in cool water for 24 hours before direct sowing in spring.
