SEEDS OF ENGLISH WALNUT TREE - JUGLANS REGIA

Fruit production. Timber. Ornamental. Medicinal. The walnuts are traded to be eaten fresh, to produce oil and of course as one of the best dry fruit for a healthy diet. The wood is of a good quality and very appreciated in carpentry and cabinet-making. It has medicinal properties controlling fatty and folic acids.

Deciduous 20m tall tree with a heavy whitish trunk. The leaves are oval, green and scented. The walnut is big and plump. Small green-yellowish flowers.

Prefers deep, sandy soils.

Sowing in autumn or depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to April after a  stratification in cold for 4-5 months before the sowing. It is possible to use a sowing substrate for potting or soil from the garden together with a sowing substrate if the sowing is made directly into the garden. The substrate must be wet but not soggy until the germination is completed.
