Ornamental and landscaping tree. Fast growing. The wood is used in carpentry and cabinet making. With the seeds creams and ice cream can be made. The fruit is sweet. It is used for cattle food. It is a good shade-tree.

Honey locusts can reach a height of 20–30 m.The leaves are pinnately compound on older trees but bipinnately compound on vigorous young trees. The strongly scented cream-colored flowers appear in late spring, in clusters emerging from the base of the leaf axils. The fruit is a flat pod that matures between September and October and is produced every 3 or 5 years.

It prefers deep and dry soils.

Place the seeds in boiling water at 90ºC for 5 seconds and immediately after transfer to running water with ice cubes in it. Soak for 24h and then proceed to the sowing maintaining temperatures of 20ºC night/25ºC day until the germination is completed.
