Good timber. Florist use it for its decorative foliage. It has many medicinal properties. It can be used to treat cataract, it is balsamic and decongestant, antiseptic and febrifuge. It reduces sugar in blood plasma. The essential oil is widely used. The leaves are used as an herbal tea.
Evergreen tree growing up to 70m with white flowers. The broad juvenile leaves are covered with a blue-grey, waxy bloom, which is the origin of its common name "Blue Gum".
Prefers slightly acid soils together with cool and humid areas.
