A gorgeous ornamental shrub or tree. It is ideal in narrow streets, parks and gardens. This species is appreciated in of the art of bonsai.
Deciduous small-sized tree up to 10 m with a rounded crown. The bark is thin, greyish-brown, smooth when young and peels off when it gets older. The leaves are bright orange and turn to red in autumn. The flowers are grey-green in spring. The fruit is a paired reddish samara maturing in late summer to early autumn.
Grows on any humid soil. Also called Acer tataricum subsp. ginnala.
Soak 48 hours then stratify in cold for 3 months and sow early in spring.
