SEEDS OF BETULA PAPYRIFERA - PAPER BIRCH

A great value tree for timber industry. Ornamental. Medicinal.

Medium-sized deciduous tree reaching 20 m tall. Smooth, white bark. The leaves are alternate, ovate, with a doubly serrate margin, dark green turning yellow in autumn. The leaf buds are conical and small. They are green-colored with brown edges. The flowers are wind-pollinated catkins. The fruit matures in the fall.

The foliage and bark are attractive making this tree a good value for gardening. The tree is used to make paper and veneer. The seeds, buds and bark feed the fauna. Juices, wine, beer and some medicinal tonics are extracted from its sap.
