Deciduous shrub growing up to 5m with white flowers. Yellow to red leaves in autumn. The berries are bright red, very showy in autumn.

Prefers deep, fertile and not too much dry soils. It is found in shady places and along waterways.

Direct sowing in Autumn o depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to April.
