Ornamental shrub for landscaping, erosion control, gamecover. It can be grown in rockery gardens, edges and to shape hedges. The wood is of a great value. This plant attracts birds so it is cultivated in natural spaces, woods and parks to let them build their nests and feed them.
Thorny and evergreen shrub up to 1-2m. Green lanceolate and narrow leaves. Little green-yellowish flowers in spring. Black fruit.
It developps on sandy, acid and slightly humid soils. Hot and cold tolerant.
Soak the seeds in cool water for 48 hours before sowing.
