SEEDS OF FIRETHORN - PYRACANTHA COCCINEA
Red, sometimes orange, berries. Ornamental. Hedges, clumps, walls. Bonsai. With the berries, marmelade is made. The seeds are a substitute for coffee. It is astringent. It is found on walls, in bushes and on stony slopes. Landscaping.
Thorny, deciduous shrub growing up to 3m with hermaphroditic white flowers. Lanceolate and oval leaves with a serrated edge. It has little bright red, sometimes orange pea-like berries.
Lives on any well-drained soil.
Soak the seeds in cool water for 24 hours before sowing.
