The plant from which Tonburi comes. The dried seeds can be eaten and are a must in Japanese cooking called ‘tonburi’. The texture is similar to caviar. In natural medicine the seeds are also used to prevent hypertension, obesity and arterioscleriosis. The plant is used as forage for livestock, for erosion control, and as an ornamental plant.
