Spectacular flowering for this small tree.
Small to medium-size semi-deciduous tree growing to 5-7 m tall. Large, heart-shaped leaves. Beautiful, fragrant flowers from pink to purple appearing on the branches before the leaves. The fruit is a striking green pod, brown when ripe that contains the seeds.

Soak the seeds in cool water for 24 hours before sowing at temperatures of 15ºC night/20ºC day.
It is used mainly in gardening for its flowers. Rapid growth. The leaves are good fodder for the cattle. Hard wood used in the manufacture of tools. Tannins are obtained from the bark.
