An ideal ornamental shrub to form thickets, for pond area, water garden. It can be grown to create woody areas for an ornamental purpose or to create sheltered places. This species fixes nitrogen. Its abundant branches welcome bird-nests. Attracts butterflies, bees and other insects.
It is a deciduous shrub of 3-5m with pale-green oval pinnate leaves. Scented purple-blue flowers with a unique petal, spikelike clusters.
Grows best on alkalin, sandy, moist soils.
Direct sowing at 20ºC. Lightly cover the seeds and maintain the humidity until germination is completed.
