Deciduous shrub growing up to 6m with white-yellowish fragrant flowers. Oval leaves with a rough stem. The fruit is bright red then black at maturity.
Adapts to limestone, fresh and clay soils very well. It is found in the forests, bushes and clearings.
Direct sowing in autumn or to obtain a more regular and faster germination stratify in cold the seeds for 60-120 days before the sowing, in spring.
