SEEDS OF SWAMP CYPRESS - TAXODIUM DISTICHUM

Swamp Cypress is a high value ornamental tree for its reddish foliage and its conic shape. It is perfect for swamp zones and riversides. Used for reforestation. Its reddish wood is of great value.

Deciduous and very thick conifer growing up to 45m. Light green leaves turning reddish in autumn. The cones are rounded and reddish. Requires peat, acid or flooded soils. Tolerate chalk.

Depending on the geographical areas and altitude sowing can take place from February to May. To obtain a more regular and faster germination stratify in cold the seeds for 21 days before the sowing. It is possible to use a sowing substrate for potting or soil from the garden together with a sowing substrate if the sowing is made directly into the garden. The substrate must be wet but not soggy until the germination is completed.
