Direct sowing. Lightly cover the seeds and maintain the humidity until germination is completed.
It grows on clay, stony, sandy and well-drained soils.

Its edible cone pines have a high nutritional intake and contain many carbon hydrates with a high calorific level. It is thought that its resin can cure skin ulcers.
It is a symbolic tree in Argentina, seen on the coat of arms of one of its provinces.
