Evergreen cover plant for rockery, borders, ponds. Planted together with other plants in the garden it will give a nice contrast for its very showy color. It is used for ponds and along riversides.

Carex pendula is a tall, perennial plant which forms large, dense tufts. The smooth stems are triangular in cross-section with rounded angles. The long, hairless leaves are yellowish-green above and glaucous below. The simple flowers are borne on long, drooping, catkin-like spikes.

Adapts to any soil as long as it is deep and moist. It is native to western, central and southern parts of Europe occurring north to Sweden, Denmark and parts of Scotland.

Direct sowing. Temperatures 8ºC night/15ºC day. Lightly cover the seeds and maintain the humidity until germination is completed.
