Aquatic plant. Very showy. Humid areas, ponds, riverbanks and creeks. The stems are used in basketry. Green filter plant in areas with salty water or close to the sea.
Evergreen plant of 1-2m with thick bushy form and dark-green stems. At the top of each stem reddish-brown flowers grow together with pinky fruit.
Adapts to any humid soil. Direct sowing.
