Small fruit tree from tropical and subtropical areas. Increasingly present in our fruit markets. It is consumed as fresh fruit, it is found in ice cream and smoothies. The fruit is very nutritious and digestive. It is a source of vitamin C and iron. The leaves and seeds are vermicidal. The dry green fruit is a good insecticide. The bark is astringent and the roots are a powerful purgative.
Tree or shrub that can reach 6 m. Deciduous leaves. Flowering in late spring early summer. Green fruit covered with scales, round or oval in shape that can weigh between 100 and 200 grams. Its white pulp is very sweet, fruity and creamy. Its flavor reminds of cinnamon. Black seeds, bright and smooth.
Direct sowing with temperatures of 20ºC/25ºC.
It is grown with summer temperatures above 25ºC. In these conditions it can bear fruit from the third yearof sowing. It will lose the leaves below 10ºC. A tree of 5 years can give up to 50 fruits.
