Fruit tree with medicinal properties also used in reforestation. It is used in dryland reforestation against erosion. Its raw seeds are edible. Its resin is present in some varnishes and contains essential oils used in perfumery. It is used as rootstock for cultivation of Pistacia vera.
Up to 12m, with deciduous and dark green oval leaves. Small green flowers and red pea-like fruit.
It prefers light soils, neutral to acidic.
Soak the seeds in cool water for 24 hours before sowing at temperature of 20ºC.
