SEEDS OF STONE PINE - PINUS PINEA

Forest and ornamental tree. It is grown for food industry for its edible pine nuts. Bonsai. The wood is a good timber also used in cabinet making. Good firewood. With its resin, esential oils are extracted for perfumery industry. Prevents and help in erosion control. Can be cultivated as an isolated tree or in groups. Its pine nuts are eaten for aperitive. They are a world spread ingredient in cooking recipes. But they are more used in the mediterranean gastronomy.

Evergreen conifer up to 30m. with vivid green needles. Umbrella canopy to a broad and flat crown shape as years go by. Brown ovoid pine cones filled with edible pine nuts.

Prefers neutral, acid and light soils.

Soak the seeds in cool water for 24 hours before sowing.
