Tree from 6 to 15m high with deciduous and oval green leaves that turn red in autumn. White-pinkish flowers, the edible red fruit is the cherry plum. Prefers chalky, poor and wet soils.
Direct sowing with fresh seeds in autumn or cold stratification for 4-5 months and sowing in February/March.
