The seeds, once cooked are full of many nutrients and oil. They must not be eaten raw as they contain cyanide which is eliminated by the cooking. Egyptians used to make fabrics from its fibres.
Perrenial. 30cm. Narrow spear-shaped and light green leaves. The flowers have 5 bluish petals.
Direct sowing in spring. Lightly cover the seeds and maintain the humidity until germination is completed.
Prefers vegetal, basic and fresh soils.
