Sacred Lotus

Aquatic plant mainly used in gardens to cover water surfaces. Ornamental and food plant with medicinal properties. The seeds and roots can be eaten cooked or toasted. Actually they are part of some native tribes’ food as well as a common ingredient of asian cooking. Large, floating, green azure leaves with a wavy edge. In summer the flowers bloom. They are fragrant and pink. The color fades when ripened. The plant needs clay and soaked soils of at least 60cm deep.

Scarify the seeds, then soak the seeds in cool water until germination takes place. After 15-20 days the plant will be transferred to its final place in the garden.
