The perfect flowering plant for the back of the borders, for pots and flowerbeds. An oil is produced from its seeds is used for lamps, lubricants and paints. The plant is poisonous so it has to be handled with care and hands washed after handling the plant or the seeds.
A variety of Ricinus communis with bigger and bright green leaves. It reaches 1.50m. Fast-growing plant. The flowers and the pods containing the seeds are red. It grows on sandy, silty and well drained soils.
Soak the seeds in cool water for 24 hours before sowing in spring.
