PLANTS OF SPANISH THYME - THYMUS ZYGIS

Ornamental and aromatic plant to grow in gardens, edges, rockery and pots. Kitchen herb.  It is used as a condiment in stews and sauces. Important honeybee plant. Among its medicinal properties it is known to be stimulating, antiseptic. It fights against cough and bronchitis.

Evergreen, aromatic plant of 30cm with white tiny flowers. Needle-shaped leaves and an elliptic or berry-type fruit.

Prefers poor, acid and stony soils. It is found on dry and rocky slopes or in bushes.

Dig a hole at least two or three times as wide and deep as the root ball. Take out the plant from the container and loosen roots to allow them to spread out in all direction. Cut possible broken roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
