Aromatic and ornamental plant. Culinary. Highly scented. Attractive low bush for borders, edgings, flowerbeds and rockery. The flowered branches are used in olive maceration, to flavour cheese and as herbal tea. It is also used in wine and liqueur macerations. It has the same medicinal properties as Satureja hortensis.
Evergreen growing up to 50cm with short little hairs and long groups of tubular flowers white to pinky. Small lanceolate leaves.
It grows in deep and fertile soils.
