Thorny shrub for rockery, banks, landscaping, defensive and low hedges. Medicinal properties. Used as a fertiliser, firewood and to make coal. Its medicinal properties are used to treats asthma, headaches. It raises cardiac pace and fights liver disease. It is not recommended for domestic use.
Deciduous of 2.5m with yellow flowers butterfly-like. Instead of leaves it has thorns. The fruit is a pod filled with seeds.
Prefers poor, dry soils and without lime. It does not tolerate floodings.
Dig a hole at least two or three times as wide and deep as the root ball. Take out the plant from the container and loosen roots to allow them to spread out in all direction. Cut possible broken roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
