PLANTS OF DEODAR - CEDRUS DEODARA

Fast growing tree commonly planted for ornamental. Fragrant wood. Bonsai. Ideal in parks and gardens as singular tree. Pot plant. It has antiseptic, astringent and anti-fungus properties. Its aromatic wood produces Cedar essential oil used in perfumery and to make incense. Good insect repellent tree for its strong fragrance.

Up to 40m tall. Pyramid-shaped. Green-greyish needles and green to reddish cones.

Prefers permeable and slightly deep soils.

Dig a hole at least two or three times as wide and deep as the root ball. Take out the plant from the container and loosen roots to allow them to spread out in all direction. Cut possible broken roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
