The Evergreen oak is the most significant Spanish tree with great ornamental value.
This subspecies, Quercus ilex subsp. ilex has more lanceolate leaves, dark green on the upper side and whitish on the underside, together with many pairs of nerves.
Evergreen up to 20m tall with characteristic yellow flowers and, as fruit, acorns!
Cultivated as singular, in groups, for reforestation, for timber, as bonsai... The acorns are feed to iberic pigs.
