Fruit tree with medicinal properties also used in reforestation. It is used as rootstock for cultivation of Pistacia vera. It is used in dryland reforestation against erosion. Its raw seeds are edible. Its resin is present in some varnishes and contains essential oils used in perfumery.
Tree up to 12m, with deciduous and dark green oval leaves. Small green flowers and red fruit similar to the pea.
It prefers light soils, neutral to acidic.
Dig a hole at least two or three times as wide and deep as the root ball. Take out the plant from the container and loosen roots to allow them to spread out in all direction. Cut possible broken roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
