Tree cultivated as an ornamental because of its showy foliage and flowers. It is cultivated in gardening as an alignment tree, isolated specimen or in pots.
Pyramidal tree with fastigiata branches. It can reach 5 to 8 metres. The leaves are deciduous, with attractive reddish and orange colourations in autumn. The flowers are pink in clusters at the end of the branches.
It is indifferent to any type of soil, growing best in deep, sandy soils, being cool or moist. It withstands frosts from -5ºC to -10ºC. Resistant to sea wind.
