A fruit, ornamental, forest and medicinal tree. Grown for its edible fruit, the walnut. The walnuts are traded to be eaten fresh, to make oil and of course as one of the best dry fruit for a healthy diet. It has medicinal properties controlling fatty and folic acids. Its wood is of a good quality and very appreciated in carpentry and cabinet-making.

Deciduous tree up to 20m tall with a strong whitish trunk. Its leaves are oval, green and scented. The walnut is big and plump. Small green-yellowish flowers.

Prefers deep, sandy soils.

Make a hole at least twice as wide and deep as the root. Remove the soil so to facilitate the rooting. Take out the plant form the container and cut possible broken o roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
