A very popular tree commonly used as windbreaks. Perfect for large gardens and parks, for landscape planting all around estates or along riverbanks. Good timber for firewood or paper. It is also used in dye. It can tolerate a coastal exposure and is known as a good pionner species able to fix nitrogen from the air. Riparian tree.
Deciduous tree growing up to 20-25m of a height. The leaves are glossy green and heart-shaped. The pale purple flowers turn gold when older.
Adapts to any soil prefering acid or slightly alkalin soils and regular watering.
