One of the most popular shrub for evergreen hedges!. Also impressive in a garden as a specimen shrub. Pot plant.
Grows best in fertile, well-drained soil. Trimming in July to get a nice red new growth in autumn. General pruning is best in winter. Diseases resistant.
Evergreen shrub growing up to 5 m sometimes 10 m. Glossy dark-green leaves changing color with seasons: bright brilliant red in spring, purple in summer, green in winter. Small white flowers in spring.
Dig a hole at least two or three times as wide and deep as the root ball. Take out the plant from the container and loosen roots to allow them to spread out in all direction. Cut possible broken roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
