PLANTS OF RED JAPANESE MAPLE - ACER PALMATUM ATROPURPUREUM
The Japanese maple is very decorative because of the colour of its leaves in autumn. Widely used for bonsai, it can also be grown in pots to decorate patios and terraces.
Japanese Maple is a deciduous tree reaching heights of 15 m. Dark purple foliage and flowers. The fruit is a pair of winged samaras.
Acid soils. Slow growing. For climates with high atmospheric humidity. The distribution of this tree is China, Japan and Korea, nevertheless it is easily found in parks and gardens in Europe for its usefulness as an ornamental species.
