PLANTS OF MONTPELLIER MAPLE - ACER MONSPESSULANUM SHRUB FORM
Shrubby shape. Presented in a 2.5 litre pot with multiple trunks.
Ornamental tree perfect for hedges, parks and small gardens. Used in the art of bonsai. Its hard and strong wood is popular in cabinet making to create luxurious objects and in framework. It is also a good firewood. The leaves are used as fodder. It is used in landscaping, to fix the riverbanks, to control floods and erosion, in slopes.
Deciduous, dense tree reaching 10m. The wood of the young trees is greyish and smooth becoming finely fissured on old trees. The lobe leaves are dark green and they are porous. The flowers grow in bunches and they are yellow-greenish. It needs siliceous, dry and rocky soils.
