PLANTS OF PORTUGAL LAUREL - PRUNUS LUSITANICA

Its wood is pinkish and is used in joinery. Hedges, urban gardening, potted plants.

Small evergreen tree that can reach 10 m in height, with dark grey bark. Simple, ovate-lanceolate leaves. White flowers, longer than the leaves. Ovoid fruit, first greenish and then purple-blackish when ripe, on a short stalk.

Present in Iberian Peninsula, Macaronesia and North Africa.
