PLANTS OF BLOODTWIG DOGWOOD - CORNUS SANGUINEA

Ornamental shrub appreciated for its wood and medicinal properties. Ideal for hedges. Decorative shrub in winter because of its red branches. The wood is used in turnery to make handles for tools or instruments. The fruits are eaten by the fauna and birds in the forests. It is astringent and antipyretic.

A 4m tall deciduous shrub with pale green leaves. Small white flowers with black bitter berries.

Adapts to any type of soils with a preference for cool and humid ones.

Dig a hole at least two or three times as wide and deep as the root ball. Take out the plant from the container and loosen roots to allow them to spread out in all direction. Cut possible broken roots. Mix the soil extracted with a substrate and fill part of the hole with the mixture obtained. Place the plant in the hole and cover with the remaining mixture. Compact the soil around the plant and water thoroughly.
