Very fine dwarf palm with glaucous, silvery-green foliage. Slow growing. Very hardy (-20 ºC). Avenues and gardens.
The long, upright inflorescences rising well above the leaves, together with the small seeds, adds to its attractiveness.
Together with S. etonia it is the smallest of the Sabals and an important and popular species because of its legendary cold hardiness.
