Bear's breeches is an Ideal and beautiful plant for gardens, patios and terracesGood plant for pot to decorate patios. It is known for its dense blooming and its long lasting beauty. It is an excellent ground-cover plant and it has many medicinal purposes. In natural medicine the leaves of Acanthus are used to treat inflammations, to stimulate appetite and as a laxative. The roots are recommended against diarrhea, and dysentry. In old times this plant was said to get rid of evil spirits in houses. This is the reason why in many Mediterranean zones a pot of Acanthus is still set on every side of the door.

Evergreen plant, fast growing. The leaves are big and bright green artichoke-like leaves. The flowers are dense, purple and white. After blooming seeds appear and make a typical noise when they disseminate. This plant grows in deep and permeable soils for its humidity and coolness. Drought resistant. HardyAcanthus mollis is native to the Mediterranean region.
